In today’s fast-paced world, time is limited—and volunteer opportunities are fragmented across multiple platforms. This makes it difficult for individuals to discover opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and availability.

While volunteering should feel engaging and rewarding, the search process is often inefficient and frustrating. People spend time browsing disconnected sources without clarity on whether an opportunity is the right fit.

This gap highlights the need for a centralized, intuitive platform that streamlines discovery and creates a more meaningful and accessible volunteering experience.

Product Opportunity

The current experience of searching across multiple platforms is fragmented and inefficient. This presents a clear opportunity to shift from scattered discovery to a unified, skill-based matching system.

The platform is designed to:

  • Streamline the search process with fast, intuitive navigation
  • Enable users to both find opportunities and offer their skills
  • Provide a dedicated space for startups, small businesses, and newcomers to contribute
  • Deliver all interactions through a single, accessible web application

How might we connect people to meaningful volunteer opportunities based on their skills, goals, and availability?

Process & Execution

To bring the Volunteer Connections platform to life within a 10-week timeline, I led the end-to-end UX process—from research to testing.

I conducted user research with a diverse group of participants, including newcomers, seniors, professionals, and small business owners, to uncover real needs and eliminate assumptions. These insights informed the creation of personas and a clear information architecture.

From there, I designed key user flows, developed low-fidelity sketches, and translated them into wireframes. Iterative usability testing allowed me to refine the experience and ensure the platform was intuitive, efficient, and aligned with user expectations.
